You probably were saying that if I showed US DL to an officer, he/she might say that I have intenstion to illegal work or stay in US? Actually.....

Immigration officers in Toronto Airport are quite nice(relatively). What happened to me was that I crossed the CA-US borders last time by greyhound. That officer asked me American IDs. I showed him mine. Then he kept asking me if I tried to work or stay illegally in US. Fortunately my status is good. After 30 minutes, he let me go. Next female officer was much nicer. She started checking my bag. The first thing she asked to show was my documents. When she found my status is all right, she walked to that officer. Very quickly, she returned, and said, "You are all set.".

    • U have to get SSN number to take driving test in USA. But you can't apply that with B1/B2 Visa.
    • in some states, they don't require SSN# for applying driver license. I am not sure whether B1/B2 holder can apply now, I heard someone from Canada passed the test and got the license in the states year ago. You can try.
After you get the US driver license, you need to wait for 2 years to change to G license in Ontario.
    • In my case, I am holding a Canadian DL. I went to apply for an American local DL, they only asked me to show passport, and my Canadian DL. It was very easy to change. For road test, I have no idea.
      • May I ask what kind of Visa you hold in USA? and which state you applied DL? Thank you.

    • never show your US driver license when crossing the border to US.
    • Would you please tell me why I don't show my DL when crossing the border to US?
      • DL is resident proof, Canadian doesn't need US DL to drive there.

    • Just called DL office. Officer said that the expires date on DL follows the VISA expires date.
