What I mean is, jack rusell terrier all looks similar, not like those long hair breed.(of coz there are long hair jack, )

So from the picture, hard to tell many difference from one to another. And they are very active, the personality can be very different from a lab, lot's of people have trouble handling it. So if you are going to buy a dog, study the dog first, then visit the dog and the owner/breeder carefully. It save you time and money and keep you away from trouble. The guy sold his dog here obviously didn't do his homework, so he was in trouble. Just my 2 cents to help both the dog and the owner be happy. Plus a common human being should be kind to the animal and himself, isn't it :)

    • if you are in toronto, your puppy may need four shots, the first shot is usually finished before you bought.make sure how many shots your puppy already took.
then one shot every year. take your puppy to see a vet, the vet will tell you how many shots your puppy need
.( my dog took four shots, but when I bought the dog, the owner told me only need three shots. )

it is not necessary for dog to have a license.don't worry about license. only some pure breed dog, the owner will send you the breed certification.
      • License has nothing to do with the breed. It's just an ID help to indentify the dog in the database. A pure breed dog regist at Canada Kennel club for it's breed line.
    • 2个月差不多节育了,到兽医那和打针一块做.里licence到humane society弄.

          • I have to say, you can't get a dog by what he looks like, you shouldn't get a dog when you don't know dogs.
            • Sorry, I am not as great and kind as you, I am only a common human being. If I pay the money, I do like I have some chance to select. I should learn to devote selfless love to animal from you. thanks for the advice

    • To those who want a jack russell, they are not a dog for everyone(zt)
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Jack Russell Terriers are not recommended as apartment or condo dogs. They need a great deal of exercise and outdoor activity, and are usually too loud for such high-density living. They need room to run; leash walking does not satisfy their boundless energy. Unless your schedule permits many hours at home and a lot of outdoor activity, with a safe place the terrier can run, this is not the dog for you. Many rescues come from apartments, condos, or homes where the owners work away from the home for long periods of time.
Jack Russell Terriers are country dogs. When made to live in a city or suburban-type environment, their needs and instincts do not change. It would be unreasonable to expect them to be anything other than what they are genetically bred to be -- a serious hunting dog. Your lifestyle must be adjusted to meet their needs; they must have jobs to perform -- an outlet for their considerable energy and intelligence.
Jack Russell Terriers absolutely need a securely fenced yard! Jack Russells will roam due to their hunting instincts.... even if left in an unsecured for a few minutes. You can let them out every day for three years with no trouble....but one day they will disappear and may never come back. Many JR's have been killed by cars by darting into the road in pursuit of a squirrel, cat, etc. They can also dig under, climb or jump over fences; some can climb trees and any height chain link fencing. Please consider getting a fence if you are going to purchase a Jack Russell Terrier.
Crate training is an excellent training tool. In dozens of different ways, the addition of a crate means better care for your dog. It reinforces consistency in training. It helps the dog feel more secure. It makes having strangers in the house less hectic. It makes travel safer and more comfortable. It makes bringing up a puppy as easy as it can be. Once you have experienced the benefits of crate-training your dog, you will question how you ever lived without a crate.
It's never too early to begin training a Jack Russell. Formal training can begin at 3-4 months of age. However, even well trained dogs will be tempted to chase something interesting, or even disappear into a hole while you are not looking. Good luck with your training.
Jack Russell Terriers can be very destructive if left unattended and unemployed! Most behavioral problems are due to a lack of companionship, discipline, activity and exercise. If you've only seen perfect, well-behaved JR's, they are ones that were lucky enough to be exercised, well socialized, and trained. Since you will only be gone from 1-4 hours, it is recommended that your terrier be crated while you are away.
You'll need plenty of energy to keep up with a Jack Russell. They remain active well into their 15-year-plus life span; their need for activity and desire to hunt continues for their entire lifetime. However, make sure you spend some of that 'active' time with your Jack Russell.
It is important that you understand that Jack Russells are instinctual hunters, that this is a built in response to a chase or roughhousing activity. A dog doesn't usually hate cats, but when play gets too rough the dog can and sometimes does respond too roughly with the cat getting injured or worse. Don't be lulled into a sense of false sense of security, there is often a "honeymoon" period of sometimes many years before mishaps occur. Be alert and keep an eye out for any potential problems!
A Jack Russell is a happy, bold, energetic dog; they are extremely loyal, intelligent and assertive. Their greatest attribute is their working ability, closely followed by their excellent qualities as a companion. Their funny antics will continually amuse you, their intelligence seems to know no bounds and their assertive nature and boundless energy can at times be overwhelming. The unique personality of this feisty little terrier is capturing the hearts of many, but they are not a dog for everyone
The more you know about this breed (or any breed of dog), the better the decision you will make in whether or not to own a Jack Russell Terrier. The JRTCA urges prospective buyers to educate themselves and to make an informed decision accordingly. In all matters, the buyer must be aware of the many variations in the breed, and make a selection based on knowledge gained through this web site and other sources, and of course, personal preferences.
Jack Russell Terriers are very intelligent. However, because they are extremely intelligent, they will continue to test their limits throughout their life. More often than not, train their owners before the owner knows what has happened! This ability to train their owners can include displays of aggressive behavior. Their assertive nature must be understood and handled properly!更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
