PROSE系列之 THE CURE FOR THE IMPOLITE PEOPLE

Just wonder why some Chinese people are so impolite. We may have been accustomed to the fact when we were in China. People begin to become stubborn. When it's popular, nobody will complain any more. But can't we learn to repect others from westerners? Can we shut cell phones and keep our voice down when attending meeting and church service? Can't we say "Thank you"?

After leaving China, I felt great responsibilities. And I have been trying to protect 2 words "China " and "Chinese". However, I just feel so embarrassed when seeing some Chinese with bad behaviours. I feel bad and I really pity them. In fact, most of immigrants have received high education, how come they don't even know the basic politeness? How come they don’t even show a little appreciation? I am very confused with the questions. And that makes me realize the failure of education in China. It's a big tragedy.

Holding the door for the next person is very commonly recognized courtesy. In the same token, saying "Thank you" is also a courtesy to the one who holds the door. But a lot of Chinese just don't know that. Isn't that shameful? I have experienced a lot of times where people just kept going and didn't even look at you. Oh, excuse me, what's wrong?

For quite a while, I didn't hold the door for them any more. I knew I was wrong not to do that. But I just couldn't accept the way they treat me. And there was nothing changed until recently.

Thanks to a friend, I have finally got the cure for them. And I start to be myself again. There is nothing changed. I still hold the door for them, they still walk through without touching the door or even a glance, what makes the difference is that I try to teach them to say "Thank you". When in that situation, I always say "You are welcome" first. Surprisingly, everybody responds with "Thank you". And it is same every time ...更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
