My suggestion

I cannot remember exactly the phrases used in Windows XP English version.
You should right click on "Network neighbor" on the desktop and choose "Properties", and a window should pop up and then look for something like "local network" with "LAN" "firewall enabled", and right click it to choose "properties" again.
Now you should see in the middle of pop-up window, there is "Internet protocol (TCP/IP)". Double click it. Now you should be able to change the IP settings.
My suggestion is that you check this exact setting on your notebook and modify the settings according to it, I mean you make the setting exactly the same to your notebook, and unplug the network cable connected to your notebook and connect it to your PC.
After all these, try to access the internet, and tell me what happens.

  • 工作学习 / 专业技术讨论 / 请教高手,我有一台奔4机器,网卡在主板上,网卡工作正常,网络图标显示已连上,但打不开网页,求救!
    • SOS!!!
    • use "ipconfig/all" to check ur DNS/IP settings for your NIC.
    • 原因很多
      也许是DNS的问题,也许是防火墙的问题(如果有的话),也许是网络的问题,也许。。。。。,这样试试吧
      1、如果可以ping通附近的机器(用ip地址ping),试试ping一个网站地址,比如www.google.com等,如果显示有ip地址而且ping的通,则DNS没有问题,反之DNS有问题;
      2、查查网络出口有没有什么限制?有没有防火墙?有没有出口策略?
      3、确保机器没有病毒和木马之类的东东!
      4、ip地址设成自动获取试试,看看获取后的DNS是否好用?
      唉。。。。。。。
      • I tried it. But I don't know how to check DNS fits my computer's setting. Please instruct me.
        • I tried it. But how to debug the error on the my side. I can't change anything for DNS, right?
        • 这样做
          不太好说,给我打电话吧,我告诉你,647-208-9866
    • 一般步骤:
      1。ping 127。0。0。1
      2。 ping 网关
      3。 ping dns server
      4。 ping 任意地址
    • paste your "ipconfig /all" here. Many cases will cause this problem. I still this think this is IP issue.
    • 这个不好弄,请人上门搞把. 网上说不清楚.
      • on-site, $30/hr
    • 还没解决?协议都正确安装了吗?
      • 协议都安装了,DNS 也正常,它就是不工作。缺少软件模块吗?
        • 按我说的步骤试了吗?
          • 都试了,ping gateway, dns whatever。it works. But it waits for website's response when I access it for long, long time. In the end system pops error dialog. I don't know why.
            • 你是否在局域网内?
            • check your IE setting, uncheck 'automaticlly detect setting'
              • Yes, it is. If I replace my notebook, it can access a website well under the same condition. but my desktop doesn't work. Why not?
                • My IP is in here
                  specific DNS suffix: no-domain-set.bellcanada
                  IP address 192.168.2.222
                  Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
                  Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
            • FYI only. when you open any website, see what is showing on the IE status bar. Does it add ".net" to the website you expect? If so, download "ad-aware" and "spybot" to clean your computer up.
    • 搞好了吗?
      • Not yet. please instruct me how to fix it?
        • 看样子不是那么简单就可解决。你住哪儿?看我哪天有空帮你看看,电脑上装的东西多吗?如不多,你可以重新装一下系统。那就不用等我了。
          • I reinstalled Windows XP ver. Chinese. It is still as it was. Perhaps, the mainboard's quality is not good. I need your help. how to contact with you?
            • 你两台电脑之间可以互相Ping吗?如怀疑On-board NIC 有问题,可以花几块钱买一张网卡,装上就行了。我只有周末有空,住Keele/Finch, 你不会住的太远吧。如果你到本周末还上不了网,我就来看看!
              • I ever fixed a network card which works well in other computer. But it doesn't function to my P4 computer. I live at Huntingwood and Victoria park.
                • Check your PM.

                    • Up!
                      • I need to know how your internet connection is shared. If you use a router, it might be set to filter IP addresses, and your IP might not be allowed to access the internet. If it is so, try to change your IP.
                        • How to change my IP address? It is alloted by my router, right?
                          • Are you using Windows 2000 or Windows XP? English version or Chinese version?
                            • I'm using Windows XP English version
