Yes, 'contained' class means 'separate gifted' class, a kid enters it after school board level IPRC. While 'IN SCHOOL gifted program (one hr / day)' like your 孩子 is for a kid after only

home school level IPRC, this is Peel school board system. You must make your pricipal to work out a school board level IPRC for your 孩子. It'll depend on your 孩子's performance in his/her class, his/her CCAT scores(e.g. two 99s may sound impressive, while two 97s may not). I think the home school principal is a key person in playing this.
Contained class is definitely better, because all classmates are smart kids. But it may also make your kid feel bad, because he/she will not always be no.1 as before, right?
