Should I always have to turn on the power of one of the two computers or have to add another additional equipment such as router, I want to do neither, if so, just tell me the possibility that, by using only the hub and 2 nic cards each installed into the two computers, whether both of the two computers can access the internet at the same time? but is it fine for the two computers to connect to the internet at the same time to the only one IP that is a dynamic IP allocated by bell sympatico high speed edition.


I had lost connection to the website of rolia for the last 2 hours, I just wonder what happened.

        computer get its own IP without purchasing extra IPs from Bell? ( in the case of Rogers cable internet, I have to pay to the second IP for $9.9/mon). please confirm that whether it is necessary to set a computer as a host or server and always keep the power on to provide the access to other computers at your home network, or just by putting the hub, the modem and those computers linking together, then, sympatico will automatically provide the service to all those computers linked to the modem via the hub.

        today is the last day available to order a promotion plan. so I am urgent.

        • Yes, each computer can get their own IP address through the ADSL dial-up software (I'm using the Sympatico one), no extra work needed. -dtzhu(ONLINE); 2002-4-1 {689} (#429869@0)
          I knew the case you mentioned regarding two computers sharing the same Roger's cable modem, I also applied for a second IP address while using Roger's cable before. Although Bell sympatico can do the same way by restricting one modem/account of getting only one IP address, they don't do so as for now. So sympatico customers are happy with this "extra" feature. (but who knows when they will disable it, maybe at the time they are the only ISP here)
          Sorry, I just saw your posting, it's a little later than the dead line. But don't be panic, the deadline is always delayed. So just call Bell and talk to representative. They always have the rights to give you the promotion deal.
