Montessori casa is a 3 year program for preschooler. It's better stay in same place for 3 year to complete it. He will start his first year in September, for now even he is in casa for half year but just play.

If decide to switch, rather do it early than late. I find it is better to leave him close to home instead of travelling with me on highway everyday, it's safe and he can learn/play more.

I live in unionville, and there are so many good schools in unionville.

I feel mixed age is easy for small montessori shcools. But, most big montessori/schools do seperate ages groups. Personally, I think younger kids with big kids are much quicker to learn new things, but there's safety issues and health concerns (all schedules have to go with big one). Big kids, I think seperate age will be better. Yes, my son is young, he can learn a lot with those big one, I don't concern too much on safety and health issues because he was suffered on and by the time he grows this will be overcome. One day he grows up, I'd rather he can be with similar age group and in formal education from big montessori/school that why I think to switch.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Already told current montessori school that my son (2.5 yr old) to leave, but his teacher spoke to me for over half hour just tried to keep him. (He started casa when was 2.1 yr old).
Reason to leave the current school:
1. Two much outdoor activities daily which cause less time to do acadamy : morning 7:45 -8:15am (hard for us to dress him), 12 - 1pm, and 3:30 - 5pm (too much sun explosure this time frame). unless -18'C is in gym (too cold, prefer more organized activities). --- Compare to others only have 20 min outdoor @10am and then after 4pm,
2. Mixed ages, only morning 2 to 2.5 hours kids pick what they like to work. (other school with another 1-2 hour montessori time in pm after nap.)--- traditional montessori style. Good for mixed age or seperate age group? --- too much flexibility, e.g. he likes play water then just play water everyday, how to balance on everything else like math or language? -- May be he needs to be a little bit push as he is tipical boy?
3. He was sick all the time in past year, a lot more than in previous daycare.
4. I sign one accident report in average once for every two weeks.
5. It is in middle way of my work and home. May be move closer to home is better.
6. In church, wash room in hallway, weekend are used by church.

Reason to stay:
1. Everyone loves him, especially his class teacher. She feels so bad if my son is going to leave, she find a lot of potential with him and he is doing so well in her class.
2. My son loves the morning teacher as well. Everymorning, he is happy to hug me and see me go.
3. He makes his best friend there. He likes another girl. (2.5 yr old, believe or not but it's true.He talks the girl's name all the time, and teachers told me a lot of stories about them.).更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

If in Toronto area, I recommend CMS. The one in willowdale, not expensive, but seems good. Of course, Yonge/Steel and yorkmill campus will be better. If in York Region, -steinberg(Yo Yo); 2008-5-1 {297} (#4426251@0)
I will pick Unionville montessori, Trillium and Queens are not bad. Town Centre Mont class#105 teacher seesm nice. In Richmond Hill, TMS is good. The Upper Canada Unionville day care is quite good as well.
Too many choices in york region, a lot of good school compare to Toronto/North York area.

对于两岁多的孩子来说，坐在小板凳上认几个字算几个数其实意义不大，玩才是认识世界的主要方式。对于孩子Academic的培养，从4岁开始就足够早了，我准备过两年再送老二去蒙校，现在让她尽情玩，还有就是培养一个好的学习习惯和乐观向上的性格。

完全同意.我也是儿子在蒙校,把小女给放到附近的Day care的名单上去了.主要是觉得他们让孩子学习太多了,玩的少.不允许孩子之见交流太多.太压抑了.真不知道这位妈妈为什么会有这么大的意见.如果孩子喜欢老师,高兴和老师在一起,真是求之不得的事情. -coolmommy(happymommy); 2008-5-1 (#4426784@0)

I feel this is not a bad one. Especially the leave reason 1&2 , I think they should be the stay reason. For a 2.5 years old kid, play is enough. I have 2 kids, and they've been in 8 different daycares, two of them are Montessori, and one is CMS. -justhappy(...); 2008-5-2 (#4428494@0)
