I had spent more than one year at UWO before I came to Toronto. Chinese students are much different than others and can usually be divided into two groups: 1. those take Computer Science as a second degree. 2. those take whatever give them scolarships.
Group one is under great acedemic, financial, time and family pressure. They just don't have any resource to date with you. I used to sleep some 4 hours a day when I UWO. You name it. How could I manage to settle a candle date with a girl at a violin resturant? I didn't have a minute of time to think about if there was such a possibility.
Group two is younger and many of them are international students just from China. They are still kids.
What I suggest you is be patient. It takes time. Chinese guys are shy. You may want to approach them gentlely.
