I am afraid that is why mixed class is a benefit to all kinds. Helping them learn to adjust or judge accordingly - multi-mentalities ( good or bad), all those are a reality. Learn to face them, make right choice and grow up into a well-bred professionist.
A true story. A good teenage girl aged 14 to 15, died of tasting a kind of drug - a moment of craziness. She came from a good family with very good parents. And just transfered from other school, popular, pretty and creative and very caring. (from Reader's Digest)
The point is to face those multi-cultures, walk into them and live with them. Different ages require different focus on those children's education.

One girl I knew has no friends at all. Another girl has one occational friend, both of these moved from chinese-centered school. They all study hard and good. But they just do not have friends after moving into a mixed school. Not just studying good is all what we parents hope to see.

3年前我们住North York, 我儿子的朋友大部分是中国孩子，之后我们搬到了一个小城，班级只有他一个中国人，他就交了很多白人的朋友。朋友经常请他去sleep over, 所以我也请他的朋友来我们家。孩子们乐死了，可以吃到Chinese food，他们说这些东西只有到restaurant 才能吃到，美的我呀！。。去年我们又搬回来了，他现在又有了一堆中国人的朋友。不过好像没人请他sleep over。可见中西文化还是有差距的。不过并不影响孩子交朋友。

儿子是比较nice的那种男孩子，老师给他的评语是你有一个Caring heart。这可能是好交朋友的一个原因吧。

我觉得中国同学同班并不一定不好，关键是什么样素质的。个人觉得ESL学生同班的不该太多，不管哪个族裔的。去YORKBBS看看，AY的ESL学生骂学校和老师的帖子足有18页之多，看完了就知道到底是学校变的不好了还是学生生源变的不好了。 -yxkche(打狗队); 2008-7-25 (#4579473@0)
