I don't normally use this forum although I know about it for years. But because I am looking for piano information for my daughter, I thought this forum might be a good place to go. Then I saw the piano group purchase posting a while ago - too bad I missed it.

Then I went to the dealer trying to negotiate a better price using their group deal price as a benchmark. And of course you know the dealer would know it was a group deal price as a fact and told me I won't be able to get any price close to that unless I am in a group.

Since there is a big gap between the individual purchase price and group price, and my other friend is gonna to buy one too, I thought it might not hurt to give a try on this forum like the previous group and see whether we will be lucky enough to establish a new group for this purchase.

I have talked to the dealer today and obtained all the details of this group deal:

For a group of 7 (which is where we stand right now):

Price: $5,750 PLUS $100 instant rebate from Kawai (will deduct from the purchase price directly) ==Final Price of $5,650
2 free tunings
Adjustable bench (good for young kids)
Free delivery and setup
10 year manufacturing warranty PLUS 5 year dealer extended warranty (can be transferred to the next owner in the case that you might sell the piano within the warranty time - which will increase resell value)
Optional 3 month 0% financing

For every one extra person in the group, we will get $50 off the price per piano. That is, for a group of 8, the price is $5,600; a group of 9, $5,550; a group of 10 or more, $5.500, all other conditions remaining the same as above.

Happy to announce here that we have 9 people in the group for sure now. We will all head to the same store in Oakville/Mississauga this weekend.

The details are as below:

Time: 9am, Saturday, September 6, 2008
Store address: 2359 Bristol Circle, Oakville, Ontario L6H 6P8 (Main intersection is Winston Churchill & Dundus - you can go QEW exit at Winston churchill or go 403 exit at Dundus)
Dealer information: Daniel Merriam, 905-829-2020 Work, 905-783-3487 Cell

The cut off time for counting people in the group is 10am. Anybody who cannot make it before 10am needs to provide credit card information to pay the deposit in order to be counted in the group. Hopefully every of us can make it before 10am.

The dealer will do a quick presentation for our group starting from 9am (about 20 minutes) regarding the pianos they sell and the specific piano we buy (Kawai K3 of course:). Then he will hold a Q&A session, in case anybody has any questions. This guy is very knowledgable about pianos so you can ask any piano questions that you may have. At 10am, the cut-off time, he will count the people in the group and determine the final price for us. Then he will bring everybody to a room where his sales people can help with the paper works.

Piano: 2008 KAWAI (K3), black color in ebony polish

Price: If 9 of us show up on time, the price will be $5,550 tax included. If we luckily get 10 in the group, we will get the best deal of $5,500, which is only $50 better than where we are standing right now:-))

Delivery: allow 1-3 weeks for delivery of the piano to your house (delievery will be in weekdays only 9am-5pm - somebody needs to be home on the day of delivery).

Tuning: allow 3-4 weeks after the delivery for the dealer to send a technician in to do the tuning - this is to allow the piano to adapt to your house environment, e.g., temperature, humidity, and so on to ensure the best tuning effect. The second tuning can happen any time during the year after the first tuning upon your request.

Payment: Deposit of $500 (cash, debit card or credit card are all acceptable) to be paid on Saturday in the store;
The rest of the balance can be paid with two options: 1) pay certified check only to the delivery person; or 2) pay cash or debit card to the store before the delivery.
Financing option: you have 3 month 0% financing option - the store needs to check your credit before offering this option to you.

Okay, I think this is about it. I will call each of you Friday night to confirm and answer any questions you may have.
