Thx a lot.
I went to UT and met a senior undergraduate student. He tole me:
1. The CS in UT is very much math and theory oriented, so the program is quite challenging to most of the students there. Therefore, the program in UT prepares students for further study, like PHD or the like...

2. He heard the CS program in UW is more practical, and therefore provide better opportunity for a job. Microsoft hire undergrad students from UW annually.

I also checked the faculty of U of Waterloo, many of whom are the PHD from UT. Meanwhile, the computer facilities in UT seems no worse than those in UW;

How come the advantage of UW in computer program prestige? Is it because UT has too many focus besides engineering and computer science?
What do you think??

Every hacker / will-be-hacker likes to play hard ball; doesn't you guys do?

Of course, it's easier said than done, you may say. But it's really something to die for...not the school, but the challange...
(just pretending to be tough, :>), you know it......)
    • It that's the one under math dept., definitely No.1 in Canada, donot think it would open to mature students.

        • I thought Microsoft pays pretty good, I guess I am just being naive...
            • that's not true, MS paid 60k USD for a 4th year coop student backing in 1997
              • I only talked generally, from the experience of about a hundred Chinese IT friends, in Silicon Valley and Seatle.
                • data from 100 friends?fine, you must be right, Jack called, says he doesn't know you
                  • I don't know him either. I'll check with Bill to see if he knows him.
INTERN? He/She must be kidding.
                • usually, co-op is for students, still in school. Internship is for new graduates, already leave school. $12-$15/hour for co-op , and $1500/month for internship in Canada
Bye-bye.
I SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE THREE GORGES DAM
                    • I mean you should know who is deleting msgs now.
        • your comments are informative --- very helpful for me. :>P
      • I know many CS graduates(from China) in US and Canada met hard time finding jobs at the beginning of this year. Thing gets a little better now?
    • Your English is the best one I've ever read in this forum.
I would suggest you to consider other things for making choice between UW and UT, since there is no big difference in their undergraduate programs in CS. Things like which city do you prefer to live in? should be taken into your account.
      • Beyond academic stuffs, Toronto does provide my family more convinience; that's why my choice is quite hard now...thank you guys :>)
