worlddreamer31(up and running)

my manager asked me to research "test automation" and plan to automate test cases to test suites. main product is on SQL server 2000/2005. he indicates no commercial tool and extra investment except man power. any old hand/high hand could share me any idea? for example: free tools? or free language? architech?

if there is any free tool suitable for testing SQL server, then I'd like to study it.
or if we have to develop the "automated test suites", what language do you suggest?
