As to how soon you can get an patent, be ready to give a few years (3+) unless you are willing pay extra $500? for a special order. Regarding the cost, the patent agent's cost is far more than the government fee, same as China. The minimum fee: filing fee FF $400 + RE fee $800 +MFs from 100 to 650 per year (you can pay 50% for these fees if yuo are a small entity) + any other possible fees.
