本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛During the month of January 2009, there has been a rash of purse snatch robberies throughout the City of Toronto. Within 33 Division, women shopping at Bayview Village Mall, Food Basics Plaza at Sheppard Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue, and Fairview Mall have been victimized by the perpetrators.
On January 2nd 2009 at approximately 6:30 PM, a fe male victim was brushing the snow from her parked vehicle in the north parking lot of Bayview Village Mall. The victim reports that she then noticed a red hatch back style vehicle pull up beside her, a male from inside the vehicle stated “Excuse me”, then grabbed the victim’s purse from her shoulder and drove off.
On January 9th 2009 at approximately 5:00 PM, a female victim was walking through the parking lot at 2727 Victoria Park Avenue towards Food Basics. A red hatch back style vehicle drove from behind the victim, and the driver reached out and grabbed the victim’s purse from her shoulder and drove off.
On January 12th 2009 at appro ximately 9:40 PM, a female victim was walking through the north parking lot of Fairview Mall. A red hatch back style vehicle drove up beside the victim, struck her on the left side of her leg and the driver then grabbed the victim’s purse. The victim in this matter held onto her purse and was dragged by the suspect driving the vehicle. The victim in this incident suffered minor injuries.
In each incident the victims describe the suspect as either male white, dark hair, thin build, between 25 and 40 years of age. Security footage from one of the incidents revealed that the suspect(s) are driving a red coloured Dodge Caliber.
33 Division Toronto Police Service would like to ensu re that everyone who is shopping at Toronto area malls be vigilant in knowing their surroundings and be cognizant of approaching vehicles. Female shoppers should consider keeping their purse secured over their shoulder and underneath their jackets. Doing so will eliminate the possibility of a drive by purse snatch.
