about tax return, please help me! Thanks a lot in advance! The question is: Whether I can claim the E.I. I payed back?

I am self-employed. I worked for a client, and the agent who placed me pay me. On the T4 form the agent sent me, the box of "EI exempt" is checked. Last year, the total E.I. withdrawal is about $399.00. This is done by the agent every time before I got my payment.

Since I saw the "EI exempt", so when I filed my tax return, I claim these $399.00 as tax credit (E.I. overpayment). So the tax due of my calculation is $399.00 less than CCRA's assessment.

Anyone can tell me whether I can claim this money back or not?

Thank you very much for your help and kindness!

    • you were not real self-employed. you cann't claim these $399.00 as tax credit.
      • this really confused me. I work as a contract. On the T4 sent by the agent, I am marked as "Self-employed". Can I say I am self-employed and claim the E.I. back?
        • I work as "Self-employed" and paid by company check that I co-operated with. I never get T4. Actually you were hird by your agent. The agent was your employer. So you got T4 from him.
          • your employ status cann't make by yourself. your not agent "Self-employed". That's a point.
