In my mind, 看书 refers to studying those text books in the old days. However, 看书 can be treated as a hobby like most Canadian do. 书 is only one of many reading materials. We can read newspaper, magazines, an article on the internet, etc.
The world is changing and is changing so rapidly that I find myself hardly keep it up. 视, 听,and other social medias flourish into and change our daily life. As long as we don`t feel like having a meal at a fast food restaurant, we should be ok.
Don`t worry, I am sure you won’t become a 文盲. The top 10 list from Time may not be the top 10 list of your own since everyone has their own interests, different tastes when it comes to hobbies. Finding a good book is not easy. However once you find one, you will find yourself having a conversation with your old pals or a good friends. Bookséfriends not only enrich our life, broaden our views of world, inspire our souls, but also gives us the reading pleasure that I won`t trade otherwise.
