At the University of Ottawa, all co-operative education programs are optional. Admission is competitive and students are selected according to academic achievement - the better your marks, the greater the chances of being admitted! The number of students admitted each year is determined by job availability. Once admitted, you must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average to remain in the program. All applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
You may apply directly to CO-OP with your application to the University (if you are applying to History or Translation, you may apply to CO-OP only after you register at the University as direct admission is not available for these programs). If you are admitted to 1st year with an average of 80% or more, you will be granted direct admission to CO-OP. To keep your reserved status in CO-OP, you must maintain a minimum university CGPA of 8.0 while still meeting all other admission requirements.
