1. yes, we just have it maintained in July or June, I couldn't remember the exact date. After that, the two air bags were stolen, and the car was in the bodyshop of the dealership for one and a half months.

We just got the car back one month ago.

I am suspicious that they might screw up something around the engine, since they had the power cable repared. Maybe they forgot to put some nuts back?

2. yes, it's underwarranty. does that mean the dealer will check it for free?

Again, thank you very much for your kind help. I feel much better now. I would get the car inspected this afternoon.

    We have a 2002 Corolla, bought one year ago. This morning, we found the little icon "Engine check" was on. What does that mean? Should I have my car inspected by the dealer? If so, how much will that cost?

      1. Did you ever take the car for maintenance, oil change, if not, do so ASAP.

      2. I believe 2002 car is still under warranty if not exceeding 60k, don't worry about cost. besides the earlier you check, the less damage it might be, the more you save eventually.

      3. Even problems you have to deal with, check the car at the dealers first, in terms of cost, you can ask whether it's reaonsable ar Rolia after you find out from dealership.

    • could up to 20 causes for the 'check engine' light according to sunday auto-talk, eg. ERG valve, loose of gas cap, so on and so forth, it wont be a big prolem for a new car, my guess, but better to have a check ASAP. -rootbear(啤酒(^v^)); 2002-10-3 (#779320@0)
