H-Day - Back to work mode

HAPPY H-Day Champs! Most of us is coming off a long holiday day weekend. How are you feeling? Are you dreading work wishing you were still on holiday? Not to worry. It’s normal. This is something the majority of us do, and you will make it through the day and the week. When we’re about to go on holiday, our mindset gets shifted into holiday mode and now all you have to do is change it back. It’s that simple. It is only a matter of choice. Simple Exercise: Athletes often use mental exercises to prepare for big events. They visualize their success as if they were playing. Do the same for yourself. Picture yourself being well rested, happy to see your colleagues and ready to take on the day with focus and energy. Then, make it happen. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine you were picking up your cheque today from the lottery commission, you were the grand prize winner, you won the jackpot. How would you feel? Perceive today as your grand prize day, your reward day, and your red carpet day. Today is your champ day and you’re being recognize for it…How does that make you feel? Tips By Lauren Romano, eHow Contributor Prepare mentally a little bit each day before going back to work . While you should absolutely enjoy the holidays, tell yourself each day that you have to go back to work in however many days, and that being prepared to work is a must. This will also help you avoid feeling as if your return to work has crept up out of nowhere. Start your work as soon as you get into the office. While there may be the temptation to dawdle and procrastinate, that won’t get anything done, and won’t get you back in the work mindset any sooner. As soon as you get into the office, go right to your desk and get to work. The longer you take to get started , the longer it may take you to get into the work mindset. Conquer your work task by task. While you may feel as if you should jump in and get everything done at once, you may want to try doing your work little by little. This process may help ease you into the work mindset, instead of getting inundated with tasks right away. After a while, you’ll probably be going at full speed instead of getting overwhelmed. Avoid visiting any social-networking sites or conversing with coworkers about the holidays during work hours. While this may be difficult, it can be done. Social-networking sites have messages and pictures about the holidays, so instead of working, you may be more interested in catching up on that information . When you chat with your coworkers about the holidays, it can prevent you from getting your work done. Leave the reading of social-networking sites and hobnobbing with coworkers until after work hours, so you can better get into the work mindset. Make it a Champ day….
