The Senior Financial Analyst is accountable to analyze and report on the financial performance and condition of Wealth Management (WM) or businesses within WM, to support the month-end and quarter-end close process including regulatory and external reports and attestation to the validity of the results, and to assist in the development of financial forecast and annual plan. This role will provide value added ideas, advice and recommendations on financial matters including future course of action to support strategic decision making
Reporting, Planning and Analysis:
- Prepare / process closing entries, while ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of all journal entries as part of the monthly results sign off process
- Prepare monthly, quarterly & annual financial performance reporting and analysis to WM and Corporate executive leadership
- Responsible for developing and improving monthly, quarterly and annual processes for financial reporting, including ensuring integrity and quality of information, compliance with accounting policy and internal reporting requirements
- Prepare financial models and analysis to support planning/forecasting processes including assessing plan / forecast assumptions, examining variances and trends, and finding solutions to potential problems
- Prepare reports and management presentations for executive level review
- Provide financial information for ad-hoc reports and analysis to assist in the investigation of miscellaneous issues and the support of strategic objectives and decision making
- Develop relationship with line of business Finance teams and other areas within the bank
Governance & Control:
- Provide operational and organizational support to the Financial Reporting processes ensuring compliance with SOX requirements
Knowledge & Skills:
- Qualified CPA (CGA, CA, CMA) or close to completion
- 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in a financial reporting capacity at a financial institution
- Strong communication skills; verbal, written and presentation
- Excellent organization skills, including the ability to multi-task and handle the pressure of tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong ability to evaluate processes, identify potential problems and recommend feasible solutions
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Excel. (Pivot, V-lookup, data mining)
- Knowledge of Financial Group structure and financial systems (e.g. progress/Essbase, SAP, Insight/BPC) is desirable
