Yeah of course. Society Security Tax + Federal Income Tax + Provincial Income Tax, it is almost the same as the tax level in Canada. I thought US has a much lower tax rate. Seems not true now.

Misunderstanding for sure. In Canada, CPP tax is lower than SSN tax, but canada government also has a much lower liability on retirement benefits. Currently the retirement income of an American comesfrom SSN funds directly. While Canada government pay OAS from tax revenue. An American can get 1400 monthly from SSN alone.
Canada provinical tax is much higher than US.
Even people in Alberta pay more tax than people in tax-heavy states like New York and California.

Dude. you pay CPP only for the first 35K of your income. SSN is first 90K US of your income! Regarding provincial tax, in Minneapolis, it's like 5~6%, so it's not that much lower...
