加美两国政府的现行规定是，加拿大公民往返加美陆路边境，只需要持有加拿大公民卡或其他能够证明加拿大公民身份的证件，如加拿大护照，加拿大出生证等等，但加拿大护照不是必需的。

I went to states recently, my native landlore told me that I should have either canadian passport or us visa. When I passed the custom, they checked my us visa instead of canadian citzenship card.

像你这种情况，从加拿大去美国可用H4签证和中国护照（可以同时出示加拿大公民卡，但不是必需的）。从美国回加拿大可用H4签证和中国护照加上加拿大公民卡。

那就对了，加拿大公民卡只能短期去美国玩玩，H4可以随H1长期定居的，自然必须要护照，不能用公民卡，你们情况不同，不能混为一谈

When crossing the US/Canada border by land transportation, if you work or study in US you have to provide a valid visa. If you just go there for leisure, a canadian citizenship card is enough.Of course, they won't refuse a canadian passport either.

it's still working. I have friends doing this all the time. for sure, only for trip for leisure. If you tell them you're on H4, a vias IS required at the border.
