If it takes me only 4 or 5 months to get H1B, I will prefer to apply right now, but if I have to wait for 10 months, I will forget it.

If you have offer already in hand, you might still get in time for the 20,000 extra H1B started in May. (about half had been used so far). process won't take long as long as quota is availabe. check with immigration lawyer.
