I checked with Bank of America, Citi, and HSBC in US, all of them do not offer account in Canadian Dollar. Wells Fargo has a multi currency account, but it seems to be designed for business not personal.

Possible, although it might take a long time and you will get lousy exchange rates. If you don't need it in a hurry, maybe just wait for the next time you are back in Canada, and cash the check from any bank.

not really. Keep a bank account in Canada doesn't necessarily mean that you are not a non-tax-resedent.

No problem, just tell bank your states address, they will send statements to your states' address.

You can give the bank your address outside of Canada,and they can mail to you directly. They did that to me while I was in China. Royal bank has the collect call number for customers outside of Canada,who can make phone calles free of charge.
