枫下茶话 / 美国话题 / PR住在加拿大，开车去美上班的汽车牌照问题我是加永久居民，还有一个月才能申勤公民，现要到美国H1B工作，打算在美国租车然后开回温哥华，每天住在温哥华去美国上班直到凑够1095天，在美国租的车是美国牌照。我只有加国驾照，网上有人说加国PR如果住在加不能开美国牌照的车，是吗？

PR+加拿大居民+US plate, 要在一定时间(印象是45天)内通过Federal inspection, 也就是拿到个sticker贴车门上, 然后多久上本地牌照按当地法律, ON是30天 -- 不这么做是非法的, 当然超几天几个月也每人跟你计较, 只要别被警察逮着或出事故

我觉得没有这么玄，楼主每天都进出境。不大可能说从你历史上开这辆车那天开始算吧，否则俺两年后开同一辆车入境岂不犯法了。当然，小心一点也没坏处。这个问题我没有研究过。

FYI, I live in a border city, where 100% of people who work in US have Canadian plates, although US insurance is much much lower .

You can try Richmond. It's only 15 min to border after you get onto HWY99, and you won't need to worry about traffic, as you are in couter-direction from most people.

in my impression, at least 2.5h from border to the edge of seattle. I remember still in mountains after 2h down the border.
