1. She should have relative good English to start French Program. And you can read with her, take her to the library, and take Kumon reading for her English.2. Find her a online French-English Dictionary, bough her a paper dictionary and leave rest for her teacher in school.
3. We are all very happy.

My daughter is still in elementary school. I don't know how long she is going to stay in the French immersion,at least until finishing secondary school, maybe. I really don't know yet.
I have all the concerns you have right now when we enrolled her to the program. I did talk to her Kindergardon teacher at the time. I still think we made good decision for this.
We live in Peel region, all kids take CCat test in grad 4 and the results may used for gift selection. My daughter took the CCat test and got level 9 on verb part. Her teacher said that she may go to gift program, which we don't know for sure yet.

Many thanks! What is or are the main factors let you made the decision for your daughter to the French immersion?Since we are thinking only bilingual is not the only purpose, to get credit for university seems to be not strong enough, How do you like science or teaching, or environment , or other features in French schools?
So your daughter can go to the gift program, what are the factors you are wondering about, which i think it should be the ideal result ?
Thanks very much for sharing!!!

At the time, we just want she can enjoy the challenge to learn another language, because she feels that the school is very easy. Extra language for a girl (or any kid) is always the bonus, and it's free. Why not?

Anything they learn at school is same comparing a normal school program, except some of the subjects are teached in French.

感谢推荐此文章,我们也有文章中同样的思考,犹豫之处还在于:my daughter is in Montessori(Private) which we decided not to continue, she is much ahead of other same age kids on reading and math,
if we just going back to the public English, she would feel bored or probably enjoy the relaxed environment, and wasting the most energetic hours in the day, we could add on some other activities, but they are all after school...
although a kind of higher self-esteem might be developed, and probably tend to be like she knows everything more than anybody...

理解你的考虑。6月3日三位哈佛学生将在多伦多办教育讲座, 建议你问问他们小时候是怎么做的。

my daughter has been in french school for a year, doing good,my daughter has been in french school for a year, doing good, it really depends on the kids, i had the same concern when she started kingtongarden, she was way advanced in reading, art, math etc, no point to let her spend time on what she already knew, gradually she can communicate in french with teachers and friends and still speaks english and chinese out of school, if your little one is so smart, i cann't see anything wrong with it
