inflated marks are nothing strange in some high schools. There are no standardized exams in high schools at least in Ontario. Average of 98.5 at one school could be 90 at another.

我邻居的儿子在gifted program,他的化学,物理和数学都是满分,总平均是98点几分,在12年级还学了两门AP课程。今年九月去waterloo读电子工程专业,据说Waterloo给了近九千快的奖学金。

有点不理解,成绩这么好不去美国读书也就罢了,因为美国的学费实在是太贵了。在加拿大读至少要去top school呀!Waterloo, McMaster, York实在不敢恭维。这不是浪费人才吗!

好像你对加拿大的大学有误解。Waterloo的工程和computing的under是加拿大追好的。York的business school在全加也算得上是top的。mcMaster的医学院只要3年是全加载学时间追短的之一。估计如果averge低于90分的话,进这些专业的希望不大。

york 的business是全加拿大最出名的,在整个北美也算可以的啦,很多学生没有毕业就已经找到比较高薪的工作了,不但对分数有要求,还要refence的

你是头号大右派。York Business School和Queen's的business School的好处是只要你能进去, 你就有90%的可能性能毕业。不同于Toronto和Western Ontario的Business School。Toronto和Western Ontario的Business School major头两年要学General的Economical课程,如果不能upgrade,大学毕业时只能拿econimics的学位,这种可能性有30-35%。北美是很现实的,大学不重要,专业重要。专业基本上决定了未来的收入水平和家庭的幸福生活。当然,那些只凭兴趣学science, social science和life science并且家里有大笔遗产可以继承的除外。

Waterloo的电脑,数学,精算都是很不错的。Microsoft每年去那里招人。Google分公司就在Waterloo。

高中课程不是单靠用功就能拔尖的. 大学里通常最好的几个都是本地孩子, 中国孩子是第二梯队. 我很高兴看到这个排名上最好的是中国孩子, 还是女孩. 向她父母祝贺!

IB课程是文科的吧? 不同的课要求投入的时间不同, 考试难度也不同. 这么排名不太公平, 不过这边大学里也这样.

I saw her in Mississauga news this week too.she is in IB program, so can get that high. My daugher is there, but seem she never seen her, maybe she just focus no study. by the way IB is too busy, (she don't have time to sleep sometime, too much homework)my dautgher is planning to drop off.
