枫下家园 / 望子成龙 / 有感于下面讨论小孩学中文的,如果有个中文学校,每天提供2-3 小时中文环境,有效并高效,不但有中文课本,还讲历史小故事,中国文化,成语典故,名人轶事什么的,有人参加么?

老师很重要。我觉得这里很多教中文的老师,在国内确实有教中文的基础,但是也正因为如此,和这里的文化很脱节,也不懂这里小孩的心理,还是国内一套说教,别说小孩了,我听了都很抵触。另外一个极端就是做作的细声细语。对不起,不是针对你。

太对了. 有时我们以为很简单的东西, 孩子根本不理解. 一二年纪的课本里就有"国民党反动派",孩子问我这是啥意思. 现在大概不提这个茬了.

海外的中文教育已经走入了死胡同。这个看起来很蓬勃的市场,其实是没有任何市场,经济需求的假象,主要是由家长,社区,情感因素,和政治因素推动的。中文教育,决不能简单理解为识汉字,写汉字,也不能简单得去教和现代脱节的文化。

我大儿子下周第一次去中文学校,我真的很想知道究竟和许多朋友说的是否一样。我一直在想,如果按照老外学校的教学模式去运营中文学校,是不是孩子们就会喜欢?如果真的这样,当然这样的模式在国内十是行不通的,但在这里或许可以。

怎么说呢?楼上NG的说法我很赞同,就是表面蓬勃的市场。任何一种学习都是长期的艰苦过程,仅靠兴趣是无法长期坚持下去的。我接触了很多家庭,只是数学和英文两科,还是学校的必修课,很多小孩都挺难坚持的,更别说没有什么目前既得利益的中文了。对不起,又打击了你一下。

没有啊,我其实是感觉自己儿子中文还不错,但看到那么多同胞都担心小孩的中文,不免有点心理惶惶的,不知道是自我感觉太好,还是没到愁时候?

这问题换个角度说,我们从中学开始学英语,没有语言环境,小孩子从4岁开始正规学汉语,有语言环境(家里),这个环境是在妈妈肚子里就有了的,将来汉语一定比我的英语好吧,同意还是不同意?

反正我已经打击你两次了,再多一次你不介意吧?LOL...语言的学习是这几个因素:
- 需要;
- 环境;
- 兴趣;
- 长期不懈的努力和操练,口语和书面。
- 。。。。。。
这里的小孩,如果家里中文坚持的好,和我们当初在中国学英文比起来,唯一的优势也就是有一个环境。如果家里坚持的不好(这一点我很惭愧),连这点优势都没有了。所以,他们的中文怎么可能和我们的英文比?更何况我们自己到了这里,原先欠缺的英文环境也有了,大人又有什么理由说不好写不好英文?

我不介意,我也不觉得你说了什么打击我的呀。其实孩子学中文的事情是我和朋友们经常讨论的话题。如果想坚持让孩子学下去确实需要家长坚持,我们是基本上在家全部说中文,当然有时会忘了,顺嘴说个OK什么的,和中国小朋友玩时,鼓励说中文。说起英文,我和他爸爸加起来比大山说中文都差远了。

上中文学校效果不大的,上课时间间隔太长,不符合学习语言的规律。
我以前就让女儿去学过,基本上是学了多少,最后都还给老师了。

嗯,你想的也有道理,不过就怕孩子们在一起不用中文交流啊
现在我实在没办法了,在网上给她买了一张中文学习卡,内容挺多,现在看她还是很爱学的,就是不知道这次又能坚持几天啊。。。。

说实话,为此我托国内的亲戚搞了一套小学课本,自己想试着教,最后就成了讲课本上的故事,有许多故事讲的时候自己添油加醋,孩子还是很愿意听的。另外网上的中文童话故事也不少,随着孩子年龄增长,他喜欢的中文故事也会变化,中文报纸上有小孩的事情我也读给他听,四大名著也想慢慢渗透,除了西游记,水浒挑挑拣拣也说过一些。不能阻挡他对JayJay, Dora, Thomas的喜爱,但让他忘了祖先的文化遗产我心里也会不安。

我儿子从JK学中文(小小班),现在一个学3册(三年级)一个学1册。so far so good。没有功利地学,不指望他用中文将来挣回来多少钱,目的就是让孩子了解汉语汉字的美好,记住他父母所从来的“根”。我见有的孩子学到高中,中文也就几个学分而已,对上好大学帮助不大,但是比别人更多了解他自己亲族的文化背景和文字,并为之自豪,我认为对孩子一生人格成长是很重要的。
我们经常发言希望我们华裔保持我们族裔的独特文化和传统,如果我们的子女对我们文化一无所知,那么他们那一代就非我族类了,保持华裔的多元文化从何谈起。学习语言是最有效的文化传承办法。相反用英语跟孩子讲中华文化,舍近求远,隔靴搔痒,没有效果。

赞同,有一次看到WIKI上的孔子,气愤之余,真的担心以后我的儿子对我说政府比老虎还凶猛残暴,所以自己的文化一定用自己的语言。

这里长大的小孩如果不回国住几年的话,中文要比大山好是几乎不可能的说实话,俺都不肯定俺的中文比大山好。

为什么一定要孩子学中文呢? 他们中的绝大多数将来不会在中国生活,中国文化有中国人去继承,不缺这几个外国长大的华裔,家长们不都还在为了进入西方主流社会而奋斗着吗?不会中文顶多是遗憾,而且还是家长的,对于孩子来说没什么。让我无法理解的是很多人移民的理由是孩子在国外上学轻松,可是实际上还是不能够放过孩子,仍然给孩子报一大堆提高素质的班,现在还要加上中文,那么来这里干吗,还不如留在中国,中文肯定好,上个国际学校,英文也没有问题。不是教育体制有问题,是人们的心态有问题。

有一定的道理,所以我一直努力不把自己的目的放进去,而是一如既往的通过讲故事吊胃口,有时候觉得他会感兴趣的中文字读给他听,小心翼翼的保护它的兴趣,也是保护我的私欲啊。

其实,不一定要他继承什么中国文化,而是了解作为中华子孙应该了解的中华文化。反正我小时候,经常听我爸痛诉革命家史什么的,确实有一定的激励作用。

"了解作为中华子孙应该了解的中华文化"。如果对中华文化有兴趣的话,不是中国人也愿意去了解,如果没有兴趣,就是生长在中国也不愿意去了解。如果有条件,可以去问问身边的在这里长大的中国人的孩子,有多少对中国文化感兴趣的?都是看个人,随缘吧,既然已经到了这里就给孩子一个成长的空间,让他们按照自己的意愿成长吧。

很简单的,自己家的孩子长大后当然希望能够了解父母的文化了。而且多了解一个文
化,对孩子也是一笔财富。如果中文都不会,什么都要翻译过去,那味道还是不一
样的。

那是你的主观想象,等到长大,他们的思维已经西化了,有可能更愿意了解流行文化,北美文化甚至是埃及文化,希腊文化而不是中国文化。而且对于语言能力不太强的小孩子来说,很容易使他们confused.

为什么孩子学中文,家长把希望寄托在老师身上呢?老师和孩子在一起的时间远比家长和孩子在一起的时间少多了。我不否认老师责任重大,俗话讲严师出高徒,但是还有修行在个人。我觉得家长应该尽量为孩子创造些语言环境,多和孩子用中文交流,给他们讲故事。关键时刻还得push他们学。有一个很好的例子,当然是我身边的,儿子小的时候,母亲经常努力教他中文,家长努力本着能教多少教多少,小孩子自我控制能力是有限的,学到的也有限,但是说得很好,当他快高中毕业时,突然对中国文字文化非常感兴趣,用很短的时间竟然能读中文小说,所以说父母的熏陶很重要。
