那是不是说我申请到TN后可以当天去申请SSN，然后可以回加拿大原公司上班直到拿到SSN，然后再辞职去美国上班。这样有问题吗？

第一次申请TN应该等10天吧，不然记录还没到SSN办公室。

问题的关键是我听说（是一个immigration law firm说的）这10天必须在美国等，一旦离开美国SSN申请就会被suspended。不过今天给SS办公室打了电话，law firm的说法是不正确的。这10天可以在加拿大等。SS办公室会把SSN card寄到我在加拿大的地址。

Never heard1. U can apply for SSN anytime
2 some law firms know nothing and just want make money from you.
HR needs ur SSN to set up payroll for u. U can talk to them.

It takes some time to get SSN card, but usually, you can get the number next day. You can go to work as soon as you have the number.

这种情况没问题，你直接给雇主说，SSN马上申请，他们会填个假的号码，等你有了SSN，你再更新给他们。我就是这样。不明白为什么要在加拿大等，我觉得你在工作前最好先到美国住两周左右，安顿一下，熟悉周围的环境，等开始上班了你就没那么多时间了。

谢谢你的建议！我也想辞去加拿大的工作去美国以后再申请SSN。可是美国的公司需要SSN才能给我做完背景调查。所以只好暂时不辞职，至少等拿到SSN以后再说。

应该不需要，这同他们从海外招H１B一样，过来之前没有SSN很正常。

As it is your first time in US to work. Your background check will just based on your Canada SIN not your US SSN. Just tell them your Canada SINEmployer needs US SSN is for the tax purpose. If you already start to work,but without SSN. They will hold your salary till they get the SSN.
I have the same situation before. Then i negotiated with them to loan me money first. then pay back with the holded salary.

I got my SSN number on the second day, but it was almost five years ago. Not sure things have changed. I doubt you can get the number over the phone, for security reason, unless they have a way to check your identity.

按说能否工作是看你的签证不是有没有SSN号码，是公司发工资需要这个号码，无非就是等你有号码了晚一些时间给你发工资。

不需要，我在美国第一份工作，雇主先填个空的号码，等我收到，再把真的SSN给他们更新。

周五去了Niagrall申请到了TN，过程很简单。同时申请了SSN，但是被告知SSN office 10天以后才会开始处理我的case，所以也无法提前拿到number。这是真的吗？为什么看到Rolia上有人能提前拿到number呢？
